Mrs Forshaw, Mrs Worrall and I are looking forward to an exciting year!
I am delighted to be teaching Year 5 this year and hope you all had a lovely summer and the children are eager to start a new year of learning.
Our attached curriculum overview provides more information about teaching and learning for each half-term across the year.
PE will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. For the first autumn half-term we have tennis on Tuesday and swimming on Wednesday (starting Sept 20th). Please ensure your child has the appropriate kit for each session.
Please encourage your child to read at home as much as possible to improve their confidence and understanding.  An adult should log reading at least 3-times per week on the Boom Reader app.  Your child can also access Reading Plus (Dreambox Reading) an on-line reading programme that develops fluency, vocabulary and understanding.
Usually, reading and maths homework will be given out on a Friday, and should be handed in the following Thursday.
If your child struggles with any of their homework or is unable to complete it for any reason, please don’t hesitate to speak to us.
It is very important to us that your child has a happy year in school, so please do not hesitate to speak to us (or Dojo) should you have any concerns or queries. If you are unable to see us before or after school, please contact the school office and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Thank you for your support.
