Latchford St James is an Aided Church of England school. Recognising the value of its foundation, the school preserves and develops its religious character in accordance with the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve the community of St James’ and St Hildas’ by providing a high quality education within the context of Christian beliefs and practice and promotes Christian values through the experiences it offers to all pupils.
The Vicar leads Collective Worship regularly and talks to the children, whilst the children attend services in Church during the major festivals. On entrances to different parts of the school the following notice is displayed: Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school. The unseen but ever present teacher in its classes, the model for all its staff, the inspiration for its pupils.
The original buildings of our school date back to 1868 when it was built to provide a Christian education for the children of the Parish of St James’. Thus, the long tradition and clear identification with the local community provides a firm base for the highest quality of nursery and primary education in a caring and happy atmosphere. The school has been modernised to provide extra classroom space and improved facilities, including an ICT suite, a Library and a Key Stage 2 classroom block in 2001.

Nursery: 8:45am – 11:45am (15 hour children, mornings only) 8:45am - 3:20pm (30 hour children, all day)
Morning Session: 8.50 am – 12.00 pm (KS1), 8.50 am.– 12.30 pm (KS2)
Afternoon Session: 1.00 - 3.20pm (KS1), 1.15 p.m. – 3.20pm (KS2)

There is a morning break for all children (excluding Nursery who have continuous outdoor provision). The school has a Tasty Tuck Policy, so we ask that children only bring fruit for their snack. Toast, fruit and milk are available at morning break in school, at very reasonable prices. A piece of fruit is given to each child up to year 2 in the afternoon. Each child should bring their own water bottle, to ensure that they do not become dehydrated during the day, which can be detrimental to health and learning.
TRANSFER TO SECONDARY SCHOOL

Latchford St James School is a feeder school for Sir Thomas Boteler C.E. High School. Children in Year 5 and 6 visit the High School on a regular basis. Warrington Borough Council will contact parents directly with information about applying for a High School placement.
